FEC's motto and vision statement is: 'to know God and to make Him known.'
We are convinced, through the testimony of the Bible and supported by personal experience, that life is essentially and finally about knowing our Creator - God, and enjoying Him forever. It is out of this firm conviction of the reality of God and the need of all humanity for Him, that we passionately endeavour to make Him known to our world.
Our aim and ultimate desire is for the whole world to come to know God and thus to be at peace - with God, with fellow humans and with our world.
In order to achieve our aim, FEC focuses on Christ centered Bible teaching, loving fellowship, sacrificial service and a passion for holiness. We endeavour to be a Church that is an exciting place to be, relates to the world we're reaching, is accessible to our unchurched community and communicates the Good News of Christ in a manner that draws the attention of our hearers.
Our vision is summed by in the following five principles: 1: LOVE Increase in love for Christ & one another Matt 22:37; John 13:34
2: GROW Make disciples locally & globally Luke 10:1-3; Matt 28:19
3: MIRROR Increase in Christ-likeness & maturity 1 Peter 2:21; 1 Peter 2:2
4: SERVE Actively use our resources & gifts in serving 2 Cor 8:7; Eph 2:10
5: PERSEVERE Persevere in faith through adversity & distractions Phil 3:12-14; Matt 16:24-26
Our History
FEC was formed in October 1974, when a sizeable proportion of the congregation of the Chester Road English Presbyterian Church joined together under the ministry of Rev Gilbert Evans to hold its first services.
Initially the church met in borrowed premises which formed part of one of the former Courtaulds textile mills in Flint. However, in 1976 the older part of our present church building was acquired and converted to our use. The building was extended in 1996 and it now provides ample space and the modern facilities which the church enjoys.
The church celebrated its 40th anniversary in October 2014.
