FEC's Overview of Beliefs
This Statement of Faith is a brief overview/ summery of the doctrines (teachings) of the Bible Flint Evangelical Church adheres to. A fuller/ comprehensive Statement of Faith can be found by clicking here.
God is real and has a special interest in people.
Nothing in creation ‘just happened;’ God made it all.
Although God is one, He consists of three persons – the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
The Bible is God’s Word to the world, is without error in its original language and is the perfect guidebook for living.
In living life by our own standards and with little regard for God who is holy, we have alienated ourselves from our Maker and are therefore all subject to being judged and punished by Him.
Our situation is so dire that we cannot do anything of ourselves to reverse it.
Jesus Christ’s coming to earth was God revealing Himself through His Son and taking the initiative to save us from our dire predicament.
Christ’s death on the Cross was in God’s plan; through it Christ took the punishment of the sins (anything that falls short of God's standard) of everyone who would ever believe in Him, and thus provided forgiveness.
Without Christ it is impossible to have a living relationship with God.
Faith in Christ and obedience to His teaching (which is found in the Bible) is the key to entering and remaining in this relationship with God.
Through His Holy Spirit, God lives in all those who have come to faith in His Son and ensures that they stay the course, even in the face of difficulty and opposition.
Baptism represents dying to our old way of life and living a new life in Christ.
Baptism is by immersion in water and is the privilege of those who have made a public statement of their conversion to Christ.
Heaven and hell are real places - death is a beginning, not the end.
Jesus is coming again in a majestic display of His power to bring to an end the world and life as we know it, judge the response each of us has made to Him during our lives, condemn evil and those that have rejected Him – forever, and bring in a renewed, everlasting heaven and earth for those who have believed and trusted in Him.
